EDL

EDL Gallery Penang reimagines a heritage terrace house on Jalan Jones as a contemporary environment for exploring the versatility of High Pressure Laminate. The design retains the building’s original proportions and crafted details, integrating them into a refined, layered spatial sequence. Daylight enters through a brightened facade and glass-roofed stairwell, softening transitions between zones. Full-height laminate displays, transparent acrylic shelving, and a live kitchen installation demonstrate HPL at multiple scales — from tactile samples to fully realised applications. The mood is calm and deliberate, encouraging visitors to pause, touch, and observe. Preserved mosaic floors, steel-framed windows, and original structural elements anchor the space in its heritage, while precise joinery, CNC-fabricated furniture, and carefully selected finishes articulate the material’s contemporary potential. The result is both showroom and narrative — a space where texture, light, and form invite designers and homeowners into conversation.
